What a heart beats for…

You know what it’s like to have your heart skip a beat through a “look” or a thought about someone you love?

So many have been those times for us over the past 10 m0nths; our hearts, so blessed by the Giver of good gifts, have been caught up in the “beating heart of God.” The happy news that we would be parents have caused our hearts to beat with a new fervor for family and the desire to live out His purposes for that blessed unit which He established to perpetuate the Gospel. Truly one of the most amazing moments of our married life, however, happened this week as we met with our mid-wife and in the quietness of the room with her Doppler, we heard that thrilling sound for the first time, “thump-thump, thump-thump, thump-thump!” Tears of joy and awe flowed without warning as we felt the reality of our little one’s existence, and the incredible goodness of God to call us to this place with Him.  The first heartbeat, oh wow!! How can one describe it?

As we prayed on our way home from the visit, “Jesus, may this little one’s heart early beat for You!”
