Our God’s Compassion

What is Divine compassion? It is a feeling of deep sympathy, mercy, tenderness and heart proceeding from God, derived from God, unusually lovely and surpassing in excellence. Something that is sacred, not mundane!

The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created].~  Psalm 145:8-9

The purposes and character of the Lord are revealed though His own heart of compassion and mercy. His very nature is compassion. God is ‘faithfully’ compassionate toward us! “Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not!”

“Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” ~ Lamentations 3:21-23

“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.” ~ Matthew 9:36

On this journey, we are experiencing His compassion in ways refreshingly new. May we be imitators of Christ so that His compassionate nature is put on display through us.

Therefore be imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father]. ~ Ephesians 5:1
